Fukuoka Knowledge
Fukuoka is the gateway to Kyushu, a bustling modern hub with deep ancient roots. It is the land of the scholar-god Michizane and mischievous river spirits.
Historical Context
Dazaifu was the administrative center of Kyushu for centuries. It is where Sugawara no Michizane was exiled, later becoming the god Tenjin.
Local Folklore
Hakata Bay and the Chikugo River are famous for Kappa legends. Dazaifu is the site of the 'Flying Plum Tree' legend.
